About Us |
|
Geneva is a community of people, led by the Holy Spirit, who: - Accept God’s love in Jesus Christ - Worship, Fellowship and Learn together to prepare us to serve God - Seek to bring others to faith in Christ - Show the love of God in our community and the world. Geneva Presbyterian church was begun on March 17, 1953, as a planted church by Rev. Jack Becker. Our worship style and beliefs stem from our reformed heritage. The name “Geneva” honors the Swiss city where reformer, John Calvin had a major influence in the development of that city. Our Programs include Sunday worship, classes for all ages, and other varied activities. Child care is provided for most church activities. Our Small Fry Nursery School was started in 1967 and continues to be a mainstay in the community. It provides early childhood education and socialization skills. Unique among many other churches, Geneva seeks to encourage each person in the development of their individual faith. Our church supports several mission and service agencies in our community including: Children’s Crisis Center, The Modesto Gospel Men’s and Women’s Missions, Habitat for Humanity, InterFaith Ministries, Family Promise, Heifer Project International, and the Christian Berets. We welcome visitors from all walks of life and circumstances to join us for our programs. As our Mission Statement affirms, our purpose is to serve people in the name of our Lord. Our regular Sunday Worship is at 10:00 am. This is followed by an all-church time of refreshment and fellowship. |
